Srinagar Parts Shut On 31st Anniversary Of Gaw Kadal Massacre SRINAGAR: A complete shutdown is being observed in Lal Chowk and its adjacent areas in Srinagar on Thursday to commemorate the 31st death anniversary of victims of Gawkadal massacre. The shutdown is being observed in Maisuma, Abi Guzar, Residency Road, MA Road, Sarai Bala, Court Road, Koker Bazar, Basant Bagh, Gaw Kadal, Red Cross Road, Exchange Road and Budshah Chowk, All shops and other business establishments in these areas remained closed for the day. However, public transport plied normally in the city. On January 21, 1990, at least fifty civilians were killed after CRPF personnel opened fire at a procession heading towards Chotta Bazar area of Karan Nagar. ....
