A special flypast, life-size chainsaw carving and a commemorative sculpture are just some of the ways Lincolnshire is honouring the 100th birthday of Captain Tom Moore, who went viral raising millions of pounds for the NHS.
The war veteran, who turns 100 on Thursday, April 30, raised over £29 million for the NHS during the coronavirus lockdown by walking laps of his Bedfordshire garden.
His story inspired the nation and a school attended by his grandson Benjie Ingram-Moore was inundated with more than 125,000 birthday cards from people across the globe. ....

Lincolnshire has joined the rest of the country in paying tribute to Captain Sir Tom Moore, who passed away at age of 100 after a battle with coronavirus.
The World War Two veteran became a national treasure in spring 2020, when he walked 100 laps of his garden to raise money for the NHS.
His efforts were recognised the world over, raising almost £33 million for NHS charities, so much so that he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in July. ....

A Lincoln school has warned parents after a TikTok account was set up in its name and asked pupils to “audition in their school uniform”.
Mr Kelwick, Headteacher at Westgate Academy, sent a letter to parents and carers this week about the fake TikTok account.
The TikTok profile, which has used the school’s logo, is following 10 users and has 12 followers, but has not yet published any videos. ....

Adult and social care services in Lincolnshire have been placed under “immense pressure” and “really struggled” since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Lincolnshire County Council has confirmed that 60 more children are now in care than at the beginning of the epidemic, an increase of 10%.

Organiser of clap for Captain Tom will 'make sure he is never forgotten'

The organiser of a clap for Captain Sir Tom Moore has said she “will make sure he is never forgotten”.
Hannah-Jayne King had initially set up a Facebook campaign to dedicate a round of applause to the veteran on Friday.
But Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced on Wednesday that a round of applause dedicated to the NHS fundraiser would occur later that day at 6pm. Ms King says she will now observe both.
Ms King, from Cwmbran, south Wales, organised another clap for Sir Tom in April last year, which was observed by thousands across the world, and she runs a Facebook group called Clap for Colonel Tom which has more than 30,000 members. ....
