Enniskillen councillor s Ibiza holiday ends with positive Covid test

A FERMANAGH and Omagh District Councillor says he now “regrets” travelling to Ibiza on holiday earlier this month, following his subsequent positive Covid-19 test at the holiday s end. Enniskillen Councillor Paul Blake, SDLP, spent ten days in isolation in Ibiza after receiving a positive coronavirus test as part of a routine PCR test as he prepared to depart the Balearic Island in mid July. Speaking fresh off the plane at home in Enniskillen on Monday morning, he said: “I regret making the trip – it [the positive test] put a sour note on the end of the holiday.” When Councillor Blake departed for Ibiza, the country was on the approved Green List for travel.

Councillor Paul Blake SDLP. MEMBERS of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council have commended a school girl who used her First Aid training to save the life of a man she found unconscious. During a recent committee meeting, Councillor Paul Blake SDLP said he wanted to raise the positive story of Aoife Straume – a student at St. Fanchea’s College, Enniskillen and a part-time council employee at the Lakeland Forum. He explained Aoife was on her way home from school when she discovered the man and quickly ascertained he had stopped breathing. “Using her training learned at the Forum, she provided assistance, called an ambulance and performed CPR. She talked with the emergency services until they arrived and they were extremely grateful.”

Fundy Quay Project Continues Taking Shape

The city approved a nearly $8 million tender for the project’s Sea Wall Refurbishment and Storm Sewer Outfall project, as well as a separate proposal for engineering services. A pair of local companies will handle the work, including Alternative Concrete Technologies Ltd. which earned the sea wall and storm sewer contract. The city also accepted a $438,780 proposal, with $100,000 in contingency allowance, from Dillon Consulting Inc., a national company with a local office on Sydney Street for the engineering services.
