City councilor to fight discipline for defund teachers union Facebook post
SANFORD, Maine – City Councilor Lucas Lanigan said Monday he will challenge Mayor Anne-Marie Mastraccio’s decision to remove him from his subcommittee posts after he made controversial remarks about education in a Facebook post.
Mastraccio asserted, meanwhile, that the action she took at last week’s council meeting addressed an ongoing issue regarding Lanigan’s online behavior.
“What I did was in my purview to do,” Mastraccio said.
In a public statement on Facebook, Lanigan said he will be “fighting this attempt to minimize my involvement in the council.” ....
