Syracuse Democrats endorse Michael Greene to run for mayor

Michael Greene is the second Democrat to announce plans to challenge Mayor Ben Walsh this year. He made his announcement Jan. 5, 2020, at the corner of Park and Butternut streets on Syracuse’s Northside.

The Onondaga County Democratic Committee met virtually Wednesday to designate candidates for Syracuse mayor, among other positions.
The committee selected Greene by a vote of 58% to 42%, according to two people in the meeting.
“I am honored to earn the support of the Democratic Committee,” Greene said following the vote. “Syracuse is a city with a serious problem of leaving people behind, but with the right policies and the right leadership, we can uplift all of our community members. Together, we can make Syracuse a city for all of us.” ....
