Aberdour: Plans for 84 new homes approved | Dunfermline Press

FINAL plans to build 84 homes in Aberdour have been approved by Fife Council. Cala Homes got the go-ahead last week from the central and west planning committee to develop five hectares of agricultural land south of Main Street. Planning manager Steven Cooper said: “We have been working hard to ensure that the proposal meets the requirements of local buyers whilst engaging with the local community to address concerns. “Although it has not been possible to accommodate all of the suggestions made by the community council, we have been able to make some changes to the site design through this engagement.

West Fife schools get set for pupil assessment

Exam results for West Fife youngsters will be based on teacher assessment after SQA Higher and National Five examinations were cancelled. PREPARATIONS for pupil assessments at West Fife schools are under way. With no official exams taking place, members of Fife Council s South and West Fife area committee were given an update on the situation at a recent meeting. Rectors from Inverkeithing, Dunfermline and Queen Anne high schools outlined the work being undertaken to ensure the required evidence for results was being collated. Rosyth: Company says they re needed for frigates project

TEMPORARY accommodation in the Dockyard Digs scheme should be allowed to stay for another seven years to house workers on a nationally-important project in Rosyth. That s the view of Capital and Provincial (Rosyth) Limited who want the seven single-storey pods they own at Castle Road, due to be removed by June 30, to remain until the end of March 2028. They say the 14 housing units will be needed for workers building the five new frigates at Rosyth Dockyard for the Royal Navy, although the same argument failed to work last year when Fife Council ordered them to remove 62 adjacent pods. A planning statement on the company s behalf said: There is a continuing requirement for temporary accommodation for itinerant specialist workers to support infrastructure projects at the Port of Rosyth, including the nationally-important construction of five Royal Navy frigates.

North Queensferry community to help form action plan

VILLAGERS in North Queensferry are to be have their say in the development and delivery of future initiatives in the village. A charrette to develop an action plan is being formed and will include consultation with local residents, community groups and schools. A report examined by Fife Council s South and West Fife area committee last week said the initiative would lay out a shared vision and a deliverable land-use strategy to shape community decision-making and investment. The overarching Local Action Plan will also ensure a coherent approach is taken to the inter-relationship between key sites to better support the social, economic, and physical regeneration needs of the village and its residents, it stated.
