The Social Housing Regulator has ruled that it will not prosecute South Kesteven District Council because the local authority had taken action already to sort out its failing safety record. As reported in the Mercury in November last year, the council, which provides homes for thousands of people in the Stamford, Bourne, Deepings and Grantham areas, was not meeting the necessary standards set out for the propertiesâ electrical, fire safety and asbestos checks. ....

Former Cummins factory site in Stamford to become drive through Covid-19 testing centre ahead of St Martin s Park development | Updated: 21:38, 14 December 2020 South Kesteven District Council leader Kelham Cooke has announced that the former Cummins site in Stamford will become a drive through Covid-19 testing centre. Conservative Coun Cooke made the announcement on his Twitter page saying the site would be used within days for those who have pre-booked appointments via the Government website if they have symptoms of coronavirus. He said: Great news for #Stamford and surrounding area that we will be using the @southkesteven #StMartinsPark as a drive through testing centre for #Covid 19 by appointment only, opening in the next few days.
