The Highland Park Community Foundation (HPCF) has released an additional $25,000 in emergency funds to help Highland Park and Highwood residents who are still suffering from the impacts of COVID-19. Since the March 2020 launch of the HPCF s Emergency Response Appeal, the Foundation has provided 6 rounds of emergency grants. The total disbursement to nonprofits who support residents needs has now reached nearly $200,000, distributed through 90 grants.
Community members still struggle with urgent COVID-related needs. The most recent grants provided funding for food, housing and utility assistance for Highland Park and Highwood victims of domestic violence and their minor children, PPE and cleaning supplies, needs of individuals with disabilities who are re-acclimating into public life, sanitizer and cleaning supplies for pre-school classrooms, virtual mental health for community children and adults including victims of sexual assault, and programming to su

INDIANAPOLIS (Inside INdiana Business) United Way of Central Indiana has awarded nearly $2 million in unrestricted grants to 18 human services organizations in Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks and Morgan counties. The United Way says the funding, which is supported by Indianapolis-based Lilly Endowment Inc., will help in the recovery from the pandemic.
UWCI says workgroups made up of community relations staff and county representatives analyzed needs and offered funding recommendations for food, housing, health, transportation, mental health and support for youth and seniors.

NEW CUMBERLAND – The Hancock County Commission will offer its support in an effort to encourage state officials to allow senior citizens in the county to, once again, have access to nutrition, transportation and other services usually available to them.
Beth Wolanski, director of Hancock County Senior Services, attended Thursday’s commission meeting to request help in getting the state to allow the county senior center to reopen. In-building programs had been stopped as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
