Erie County murder: Grazioli hit with $10M judgment in wife's murder

His wife s estate sued him for wrongful death 11 days after the slaying
Suit has ended with $10 million judgment, which estate s lawyer vows to collect, though Grazioli s finances appeared unstable at time of murder
An enormous financial judgment has been added to the high-profile Erie murder case of one-time financial manager John P. Grazioli.
The move guarantees that Grazioli, who once boasted that he oversaw more than $1 billion of other people s money, will go penniless as he serves a life sentence for fatally shooting his wife at their Millcreek Township home in 2018.
If, that is, Grazioli still has any assets of his own. ....

Hearing in school threat case put on hold | News, Sports, Jobs

[email protected]
HOLLIDAYSBURG A competency hearing was put on hold Tuesday for the Hollidaysburg man who allegedly admitted to threatening the Hollidaysburg Area School District in November 2019.
Blair County Judge Daniel J. Milliron, who was to preside over the hearing for Javier Alberto Cantos Jr., agreed to the delay after learning that efforts are progressing toward having Cantos render guilty pleas to some criminal charges in exchange for a recommended sentence.
If those efforts to reach a plea do not work out within 60 days, then the competency hearing should be rescheduled, Milliron said.
Defense attorney David Beyer told the judge he has been talking to District Attorney Pete Weeks about a possible resolution addressing Cantos’ criminal charges, with guilty pleas to some felony offenses excluding ones associated with the school district threats. ....

Man may get probation for 2019 fight, stabbing | News, Sports, Jobs

[email protected]
HOLLIDAYSBURG Two men injured in an October 2019 fight in Altoona, including one who was stabbed nine times, are each facing four years’ probation for criminal offenses, but only if they come to an agreement on the restitution they owe to each other.
Blair County Judge Daniel J. Milliron declined Monday to accept plea agreements for Joseph S. Clemens, 57, of East Freedom, and for Travis L. Swab, 27, of Altoona, after hearing Swab’s defense attorney raise questions about the requested $5,391 in restitution.
“We haven’t seen any restitution figures,” defense attorney Thomas M. Dickey told Milliron.
The judge advised Dickey that without his client’s consent to the proposed restitution, Swab’s criminal charges would remain on hold. Then the judge negated Clemen’s plea agreement rendered earlier in the day, which included his restitution payment of $2,500 to Swab. ....
