After month s of speculation on the state of the 2021 season, Monday marks a return to the water in training mode and the beginning of the 2021 sailing season

If evidence that Ireland s 2021 sailing season was about to start next week was needed, it was most definitely on display yesterday on Dublin Bay with dozens of different types of sailing cruisers and dinghies taking on a stiff south-easterly breeze and some great waves in anticipation of next week s mini training series in compliance with the latest COVID regulations.
As regular Afloat readers know, after months of planning and preparations - and some agony - race training is set to begin next week and competition from June 7th at the country s major sailing centres.
Save the Date for Royal Cork Yacht Club’s 300th AGM

The Royal Cork Yacht Club will hold its 300th Annual General Meeting on Monday 1 February from 8pm.
Proceedings will be online unless coronavirus restrictions allow otherwise, the club says, adding that registration details will be announced in early January.
In addition, the club’s annual report and financial statements for the financial year ended 31 October 2020 will not be posted.

Deasy who has raced as part of many RCYC keelboat campaigns in the last 25 years, including a Commodore’s Cup win onboard Antix, will chair Cork Week s racing committee. Fegan who has been campaigning the family Grand Soleil ’40 both inshore and offshore in recent years, including a win in this year’s inaugural Fastnet 450 Race, will chair the shore-side events.
As Afloat previously reported, the date has been set for Cork Week 2022 from Monday, July 11th to Friday, July 15th 2022.
With Volvo Cork Week 2020 having been cancelled as a result of the global pandemic, RCYC is extending its Tricentenary celebrations with a number of significant events in the coming years, including Cork Week 2022.
