Traffic signal study approved

At its March 2 regular session, the Town Council voted to approve $49,000 for a warrant study to determine potential need for a future traffic signal at the intersection of Palisades Blvd. and Palomino Blvd./Eagle Ridge Drive in Fountain Hills.
A professional services agreement would have Kimley-Horn and Associates, engineering consultants, perform the study.
The council heard this proposal in November 2020 but rejected it. Public Works Director Justin Weldy apologized to the council for poorly presenting the proposal last fall.
âI never intended to provide confusing or misleading information,â Weldy said.
The study is the first step in planning for outlying years, according to Weldy. He said, based on traffic study information performed in connection with the Adero-Scottsdale Resort located on Eagle Ridge Drive and the proposed Daybreak Apartment complex on Palisades near Shea, there are indications that the intersection will meet warrants for a signal. ....

Development keeps rolling around town

Town of Fountain Hills Development Services Director John Wesley gave the Town Council an update on ongoing and proposed development projects at the annual council retreat on Feb. 23.
The Fountain Hills Medical Center at Saguaro Blvd. and Trevino Drive is about to open its doors. According to Wesley, they are working on contractor punch list items as well as state inspections to obtain permits and a certificate of occupancy.
Medical Center officials have not announced an opening date.
Wesley said the facility will also be adding a sidewalk along the Saguaro Blvd. frontage to the property.
In Adero Canyon there are three of eight platted parcels essentially complete. An additional parcel with 13 lots is nearing completion. ....

Here's what construction projects to expect this summer

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS Steamboat Springs residents can expect six visible and impactful construction projects this summer after the end of ski season. The projects are being completed by both the city and Colorado Department of Transportation.

Highway 40 chip and seal
The biggest and most noticeable project will be a CDOT-run U.S. Highway 40 East chip and seal, going from Third Street to the west summit of Rabbit Ears Pass. Jon Snyder, Steamboat public works director, said CDOT has “done their best to make this as painless to the traveling public as possible.” The project will start closer to Rabbit Ears and work into city limits by August, Snyder said, adding CDOT will ensure daytime closures will not be allowed to start until 9 a.m. so mor ....

The work is a continuation of last year s project when a new overlay of First Street was laid from 19th Avenue to the westbound state Highway 23 ramps.
