Madurai Market Committee has urged cotton farmers to bring their produce to Tirumangalam and Usilampatti regulated markets to sell through secret auction during the intensified complete lockdown period.
Its secretary V. Mercy Jeyarani said that cotton harvest was under way in Usilampatti, Sedapatti, Tirumangalam, Kallikudi, Peraiyur and Chellampatti blocks. Due to complete lockdown, cotton farmers were finding it difficult to sell their produce. Hence to solve this issue, the farmers can sell their produce through secret auctions at Tirumangalam and Usilampatti regulated markets.
Traders from Theni, Madurai and Dindigul districts will participate in it. Farmers could also keep their produce at the godowns in the regulated markets. Treating their produce as collateral, loans would be given to the farmers at a minimum rate of interest. ....

In the wake of rise in fresh cases in rural areas, the district administration plans to establish Mini COVID-19 Care Centres at 100 village panchayats.
Deputy Director of Health Services K.V. Arjun Kumar said that earlier nearly 80% of the positive cases were from urban areas and the rest in rural areas. But, now, rural areas contribute 40% of the cases. Around 10,000 RT-PCR tests are conducted in the district every day - equal number in both rural and urban areas. ....

Five more COVID-19 Care Centres opened in Madurai

Now, patients from each block can have easy access to the the nearest centre
The Health Department has increased the number of COVID-19 Care Centres functioning in the district to 11, in the wake of rising number of positive cases.
Until Tuesday, the district had six COVID-19 Care Centres. This was increased to 11 from Wednesday. The following are the COVID-19 Care Centres in Madurai district:
