YMCA Hands Out Food Boxes to Families in Need

The YMCA handed out 1200 family-sized boxes of food at the West Acres Mall.

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) The YMCA of Cass and Clay Counties is back at it again by giving out food to families in need.
“We had one lady said that she just moved out of the homeless shelter and was moving into an apartment and this will be the first food she will put in her new apartment, so that was kind of a victory for her,” Vice-President of the YMCA of Cass and Clay Counties Lorrie Thoemke said.
The YMCA handed out 1,200 family-sized boxes of food at the West Acres Mall. They include fresh produce, dairy, and meat products. ....

MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) – The YMCA of Cass and Clay Counties is partnering with the USDA to help curb hunger in our region.
As part of the Farmers to Families Food Box program, the YMCA is handing out over 2,600 family-sized food boxes.
They are free and include fresh produce, dairy and meat products.
The first distribution took place Tuesday afternoon at the Moorhead Center Mall.
The remaining boxes will be distributed Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at West Acres in the northeast parking lot. ....

Cass Co. Sheriff Asks Minnesota's Governor to Amend "Use of Force" Statute

FARGO (KFGO) – Cass County Sheriff Jesse Jahner is asking Minnesotaâs governor to amend a recent change in Minnesotaâs Use of Force statute.
The change presumes guilt of an officer using deadly force unless a three-part test documenting the necessity of deadly force is given and accepted by the court.
Jahner writes that the test is subject to interpretation and does not reflect basic due process provided under the U.S. Constitution.
In his two-page letter to Gov. Tim Walz, he writes the statute change has caused North Dakota law enforcement in Cass County to suspend all law enforcement assistance into Minnesota. ....

IA, (KICD) The Iowa Department of Public Health is reporting 560 new cases of COVID-19 in the state as of 12 P.M. Tuesday taking the pandemic total to 389,906 total cases and 5,893 virus-related deaths.
Locally, the largest increase was in Dickinson County with 7 new cases, followed by Osceola, Emmet, and Clay Counties with 6 each. Cherokee, and O’Brien Counties with 3 each, Kossuth County with 2, and Buena Vista, and Palo Alto Counties with 1 case each. There were no new cases reported in Pocahontas County.
Minnesota health officials added 1,185 cases Tuesday morning, taking the state to 558,850 total cases and 7,031 deaths. The update includes 4 new cases in Nobles County and 1 new case in Jackson County. ....
