LMP: Orbán Gov't Building Parallel Power Structure


The opposition LMP on Wednesday accused the Orbán government of building parallel power structures by “outsourcing decision making and a substantial amount of public funds, and explaining it with mendacious reasoning.”
László Lóránt Keresztes, the party’s parliamentary group leader, told an online press conference that many of the proposals submitted to this week’s parliamentary session aimed to create foundations that would handle monies outsourced from public funds, and which would be given the right to decision making so far preserved for the government.
Keresztes cited the setting up of the Supervising Authority of Regulated Activities as an example. Under the proposal to be discussed by parliament this week, the new authority would have oversight over the trade of tobacco products, judicial execution, the gambling industry, the regulation of absolvent companies, and other areas traditionally under the purview of the justice, finance and economy ministries ....

Native American women are the heartbeat of their Oklahoma communities

When a Native American woman realizes the power of her voice and her passion, she can never be silenced.
Although Native American women represent 6% of Oklahoma’s population, this small group of women carry generations of traditions, culture and knowledge that have ensured the survival of Native American identities since the beginning of colonization.
At the heart of Native American communities is the drum, which represents the supple, strong heartbeat that flows through Indigenous people. The drum is the heartline that connects the people to the land we reside on today.
Much like the drum, here are four Native American women who radiate as the heart of Indigenous families and also their communities as they’ve used their voices to stand up for Native American issues like Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and People, against colonized curriculum in the public-school systems, for Black Freedmen Bands no longer feder ....
