Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], May 11 (ANI): The construction of two COVID hospitals with 500-bed each in Jammu and Srinagar will be completed by May 25 and June 1 respectively, informed Atal Dulloo, Financial Commissioner of Jammu and Kashmir s Health and Medical Education Department on Tuesday.
As the need for hospital beds is continuously increasing due to the rampant surge in COVID-19 cases, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has taken up its construction and the work is currently underway. One of the hospitals is being constructed in Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu and the other in Srinagar. ....

The New York State Board of Regents expects to release updated guidelines this fall for private-school curricula, following meetings with stakeholders last December on the contentious issue.
“Our goal is to develop a sensitive, respectful and effective process to ensure children are receiving the education to which they are entitled within diverse school settings across New York State,” Board of Regents Chancellor Lester Young said in a statement accompanying the announcement, following a Board of Regents meeting Monday. “We have an obligation to make sure every child is prepared to be successful in life and be active participants in society, no matter where they attend school.” ....

Education secretary expects all schools to fully reopen in-person in fall


“With regard to . September, yes, I expect all schools to be open full-time in person for all students,” Cardona said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” “We really need to make sure students have the opportunity to learn in the classroom, and quite frankly, I’d rather have it this spring.”
“Students don’t learn as well remotely,” he added. “There is no substitute for in-person learning.”

The Education secretary’s comments came as the administration celebrated reaching its coronavirus pandemic goal of reopening a majority of K-8 schools to in-person instruction five days a week by Biden’s 100th day in office last week.  ....
