In 1919, after World War I, the U.S. government lifted a ban on civilian radio ownership and transmission, and it wasn t long before commercial radio became a favorite source of entertainment.
The first baseball game to be broadcast on the radio was one between the Pittsburgh Pirates and Philadelphia Phillies on August 5, 1921.

Jim Weatherly has died. He was 77.
On Thursday, Charlie Monk, music publisher and family friend of the country singer-songwriter, confirmed to
The Tennessean that Weatherly died on Wednesday. A cause of death wasn t given.
When I inducted Jim into the Songwriters Hall of Fame I said, This may be the most honorable human being I ve ever known,  Monk, the mayor of Music Row,  told the newspaper. He never had a cigarette in his mouth, he never had a taste of alcohol, he didn t chew (tobacco), he didn t cuss. ....

President-elect Joe Biden’s 2020 election win certified by Congress
Congress was forced to abruptly halt its session on counting Electoral College votes won by President-elect Joe Biden as supporters of President Donald Trump swarmed the U.S. Capitol. But the counting resumed, and Biden’s win was certified.
The Howard University and University of Delaware marching bands will be performing at the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris on Jan. 20, according to both universities.
Howard University’s marching band, called the Showtime Marching Band, also plan to have a special drum performance for the inaugural parade to celebrate one of their own alumni being sworn in as the vice president. ....
