Daniel Pappas to create original electronic music for saxophone live at SCC

An electronic music concert is scheduled at Southeastern Community College for 6 p.m. Friday in the Little Theater on SCC s West Burlington campus.
Dr. Daniel Pappas will perform original music for saxophone.
Pappas is a music instructor at SCC since 2019 and is helping to expand the college s music programming with the introduction of digital production classes starting this fall. Tonight s performance will be a taste of what is to come for his students.
And talk about a live performance: Pappas composes his music in real time.
Pappas also will talk about how musicians are digitally altering the sound of acoustic instruments in today s music scene and will give a brief demonstration of his gear, as well as projecting an overhead video of it during his performance. ....

Wynton Marsalis and Dr. Ronald Crutcher Added to Keynote Roster for CIM's Future of Music Faculty Fellowship


The Cleveland Institute of Music s Future of Music Faculty Fellowship has added internationally acclaimed musician, composer and educator Wynton Marsalis, and national leader in higher education and distinguished classical musician Dr. Ronald Crutcher to the already impressive list of keynote speakers and faculty for the inaugural program.
Powered by a grant awarded in the inaugural cycle of the Sphinx Venture Fund, this first-of-its-kind career development initiative will engage up to 35 Black and Latinx music professionals who are pursuing or considering academic careers, preparing them with the skills, insights and networks to flourish professionally and influence generations of musicians.
