For University of Mary associate professorÂ Marek Dojs, egg decorating known asÂ Ukrainian pysanka is not only a fine art but also an opportunity for personal peace. In recent springs, he s been passing the skill and the solitude on to his students.
âThey find it a very relaxing process, which is one of the reasons I do this, as well, he said. It allows me to center myself, quiet myself and to focus on something for a period of time.â
Dojs, who chairs the Bismarck university s Communication Department, is instructing his students about the ancient art of egg decoration that began with Slavic cultures in Eastern Europe. He has taught the popular course Slavic Egg Decorating during the spring semester the past two years. ....

Technology and automation have been used to successfully preserve the essence and beauty of this dying art form
Inker Robotics, a leading robotics company, has initiated a first-of-its-kind automation programme to preserve puppetry the 4,000-year-old performing art culture.
The company has innovatively used technology and automation to successfully replicate the art form in an attempt to preserve the essence and beauty of a dying art form. This would facilitate future generations to experience the art form in as close to the real performance as possible.
The first live model of the automated process in puppetry is now open and showcased at the District Heritage Museum in Palakkad and was inaugurated by the Kerala State Government Archaeological Department. ....

Finding characterin calligraphy

AS WE usher in the Year of the Ox, many Chinese households would have pasted red coloured strips with black or golden calligraphy Chinese characters written on them (known as Spring Festival couplets), or diamond-shaped Fu characters (denoting happiness and wealth) on their doorways.
The custom of attaching couplets to doorways for Chinese New Year can be traced as far back as the Later Shu State (934-965) in China, with the red colour denoting luck and gold characters showing wealth.

Art project at Westonbirt Arboretum connects more people with nature | The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald

MORE people are being connected with trees and nature by a project using art.
Forestry England, which runs the Westonbirt Arboretum, is working with Gloucestershire charity Art Shape on the project which ends in May.
Thanks to funding from Arts Council England, Forestry England joined forces with Art Shape to help improve diversity in the arts.
The Arts Bridge Emergents project gives opportunities for professional development to up-and-coming artists who face disabling barriers.
Since May 2020 the Art Bridge Emergents artists have been working with artist in residence Deb Hoy.
Through a series of workshops looking at the critical connection between humans and trees they have created an exhibition of work and a new installation entitled Lungs of the Earth based in Silk Wood at Westonbirt Arboretum. ....
