May 11, 2021 Submitted Art Mack Schroerâs Big Lebowski is a mixed media piece in the âPop Carsâ collection. Two vibrant, pop culture-infused exhibitions went on display today at a joint show of the Taube Museum of Art and the Northwest Arts Center at Minot State University. A public reception will be held Thursday. The display includes Mack Schroer’s illustrated “Pop Cars” and “Wild Rides” posters, curated from the private collection of Laurie Geller. On display until June 8, the exhibition is split evenly between the two galleries with a unique view at each location. “Pop Cars” began in early 2018 as a single doodle of Homer Simpson on a driver’s daily log sheet. With the computer system down at a salt water disposal site, Schroer, an oil field trucker at the time, resorted to using a hand-kept ledger on Keller’s Daily Logs. Scrawled etch-a-sketch lines became a cityscape that soon beckoned a portrait of Homer Simpson. ....

According to a recent Facebook study focused on SMBs, it was uncovered that SMBs globally are all facing similar issues as operations continue to face lower sales. In response to a decline in sales and cash flows, 30% of operating SMBs also had to reduce their workforces. Women-led SMBs were consistently harder hit than their men-led counterparts, likely as a result of their concentration in the most impacted sectors. Women-led SMBs were on average six percentage points more likely to be closed globally. ....
Submitted to the Sierra Sun More than 280 creative teens across Northern Nevada, including a student from Truckee, will soon be awarded for their original artwork submitted to this year’s Scholastic Art Awards. A panel of local judges sorted through more than 1,200 works submitted in 17 categories for the Northern Nevada visual arts component of the 2021 Scholastic Arts & Writing Awards, overseen by the Nevada Museum of Art. Winners and scholarship recipients will be honored with a virtual ceremony, premiering live on the Nevada Museum of Art Facebook page at YouTube channels at 6 pm this Friday, Feb. 19.
