The Jamaica Art Society has announced its cultural partners and guest jurors for the inaugural In Focus Fellowship.
The ten organizations supporting JAS in its core mission to support the next generation of Jamaican art leaders include the following: The Armory Show, ARTERNAL, Artnet News, Association of Art Museum Curators, Brooklyn Museum, David Zwirner Gallery, Hyperallergic, National Gallery of Jamaica in Kingston, and the New Museum along with the MOMA/CCL International Curatorial Institute, along with The Museum of Modern Art/Center for Curatorial Leadership International Curatorial Institute, which welcomed the National Gallery of Jamaica s Chief Curator O Neil Lawrence, selected by the JAS, into its 2021 class.

SHETLAND-based filmmaker and writer Shona Main has been selected to participate in an exchange project involving a museum in Texas.
She has been awarded an international residency/exhibition opportunity through X-CHANGE, a partnership between Shetland Arts and the McNay Art Museum in San Antonio, in an exchange also involving Texas-based conceptual artist Holly Veselka.

X-CHANGE is funded by the British Council and Creative Scotland, with support from the Art Fund (UK) and the Association of Art Museum Curators, providing the opportunity for a Shetland and a Texan artist to research and explore the distinct geographies of the two areas in relation to energy production and climate change.

Remai Modern names Head of Exhibitions & Collections/Chief Curator
Curator and writer Michelle Jacques, born in Toronto to parents of Caribbean origin (hailing from Grenada), has been named Remai Modern’s Head of Exhibitions & Collections/Chief Curator. [Remai Modern is a new museum of modern and contemporary art in Saskatoon, province of Saskatchewan, Canada.]
Michelle Jacques a curator with more than 20 years’ experience at institutions including the Art Gallery of Ontario and the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria (AGGV) has been named Remai Modern’s Head of Exhibitions & Collections/Chief Curator.
Most recently, Jacques was Chief Curator at the AGGV, where she was responsible for guiding a curatorial and education program that linked contemporary practices, ideas and issues to the gallery’s historical collections and legacies.
