UCLA's Asian American Studies Center shares $1.4 million in state funding to address COVID-19

The UCLA Asian American Studies Center and the Stop AAPI Hate coalition have received $1.4 million in funding from California to support community programs and ongoing research that address the impact of COVID-19 on Asian American and Pacific Islander communities, including new research and analysis into hate incidents.
The funds also will support the Stop Asian American Pacific Islander Hate website and the COVID-19 Multilingual Resources website, which was developed by faculty from the Asian American Studies Center and the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. ....

California lawmakers reach $6.5B deal on reopening schools

California lawmakers have reached a $6.5 billion deal on legislation aimed at providing funding for schools to reopen across the state by April 15.
The bills would provide additional funding to open schools more than what California Gov. Gavin Newsom

Newsom would have to sign the legislation, once it is passed by the legislature, for it to become law.
The proposal, which was shared on Twitter by California Assemblyman Phil Ting (D), would allocate $2 billion to assist schools in reopening for in-person instruction, as well as $4.6 billion in learning recovery funds. The bill would also allocate $6 billion in federal funds for reopening schools. ....
