LAHORE: Reacting to a news item “NAB’s request: Excise Dept suspends registration of 384 vehicles” published in The News, former Vice Chancellor of Punjab University Dr Mujahid Kamran has said he had not owned a personal vehicle for at least last one decade, maybe a decade and a half.
“Therefore, it is both meaningless and mala-fide on the part of NAB to include my name in the list. Through the columns of your esteemed paper I would like to ask the Chairman NAB to direct a correction in the list and remove my name. I may add, and NAB knows it very well, have maliciously scoured my bank accounts and other records over the years, that not only do I not own a vehicle, I do not have enough money to buy even a1300 cc car. ....

Perhaps for the first time in Karnataka, liquor vending units will officially be kept open from 6 a.m. from Wednesday till May 12. Till now, liquor outlets were allowed to open only at 10 a.m., even though several of them operated illegally early in the morning,
Following the implementation of strict restrictions during the curfew period, the liquor outlets, along with stores dealing with essential commodities, will be open for a four-hour window in the morning. LALAMUSA: Punjab Secretary Excise and Taxation Waqas Ali Mahmood visited Gujrat and inspected wheat procurement centres. The secretary visited wheat procurement centres at Gujrat, Mangowal, Ramazan Bazaar Shah Jahangir Road, Zahoor Elahi Stadium.
Chairing a meeting, the secretary said wheat procurement target had been set as 20,000 metric tones and staff had been deployed at wheat procurement centres in the district. He said the quota of wheat procurement had been set as 3,000 metric tons for Lalamusa, Gujrat, Jalalpur Jattan, 6,000 metric tons for Mangowal, 5,000 metric tons for Dinga.
Applications for empty sacks are being received online to protect farmers from COVID-19 pandemic. He said flour; sugar and other basic commodities in sufficient quantity had been provided in 10 Ramazan Bazaars of district Gujrat. He said 46,494 bags of 10-kg flour had been supplied in ....

Excise Headquarters at Rajagiriya closed - officers infected with covid

Several officers of the Excise Headquarters at 353 Rajagiriya - Kotte Road belonging to the Sri Lanka Excise Department have contracted coronavirus.
The Excise Department states that the 1913 Excise Operations Center will be temporarily closed until the 23rd of this month due to the covid infection of several excise officers.
Instead, three new numbers have been introduced.
The numbers are 071 6345291/071 3108507/071 8122333 ....
