Continental Launch of the Entry into Force of the Charter for African Cultural Renaissance (2006) and Africa Day Celebrations


TIME: Starting from 10:00 a.m. East African Time
WHY: The Charter for African Cultural Renaissance adopted by the 6th AU Assembly held in Khartoum, the Sudan in January 2006 entered into force in October 2020 upon receipt by the AU Commission of the 15th instrument of ratification of this important arts, culture and heritage cultural policy instrument. The fifteen (15) AU Member States that have ratified this instrument are: Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroun, Chad, Congo, Cote d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, the Gambia, Mali, Malawi, Nigeria, Niger, Senegal and South Africa. Thirty-four Member States have signed this instrument. The AU theme of the year for 2021 is: “Arts, Culture and Heritage: Levers for Building the Africa we Want”. The AU theme of the year for 2021 presents a unique opportunity for the continent to celebrate its great Pan-Africanists who have played and are still playing a key role in African renaissance and re-birth. Afghanistan, China, Pakistan Sign Cultural Cooperation Agreements
Afghanistan, China and Pakistan signed the first Asian bilateral cooperation agreements on Asian Cultural Heritage Protection during an online workshop on Tuesday.
Quoting Li Qun, head of China s National Cultural Heritage Administration (NCHA), Global Times reports that based on a document titled China-Afghanistan and China-Pakistan Joint Statements on Cooperation in the Asian Initiative for Cultural Heritage Conservation, the three countries will carry out all-round cooperation in joint archaeology, preservation and restoration of cultural property, conservation, management, and sustainable development of world cultural heritage sites, exchange ideas for exhibitions and preservation technology and the prevention of trafficking of cultural property.  ....

BEIJING, May 11 (Xinhua) China on Tuesday signed joint statements with Afghanistan and Pakistan concerning cooperation on the Asian Initiative for Cultural Heritage Conservation.
The country will cooperate with Afghanistan and Pakistan on archaeological projects, the restoration of monuments and sites, nominations for World Heritage sites, academic research into museum collections, cultural exhibitions, the prevention of cultural artifact trafficking, and personnel training, according to the statements signed between China s National Cultural Heritage Administration (NCHA) and the Ministry of Information and Culture of Afghanistan as well as the National Heritage and Culture Division of Pakistan. ....
