KB spears to the top Culture Spears co-lead singer Kabelo Mogwe has released his first single under the all-familiar name ‘Kulenyane’. The song, titled ‘Mogatse KB’ invokes memories long past. KB, with the signature Culture Spears melody that made the group a Southern Africa powerhouse with songs such as ‘Khudu’ and ‘Selonyane’, is back to his very best with this banger. KB borrows heavily from folklore songs, fusing them with his own witty style to deliver another traditional smash hit. Littered with relevant Setswana idioms and a lead guitar that caresses the soul, this is not a bad way to start a challenging year for local artists.

Songster, Shumba Ratshega returns with Gospel music ⋆ TheVoiceBW

ACCEPTING HIS PRIZE: Shumba receives his cheque from BIFM CEO Neo Bogatsu Internationally acclaimed traditional music songster, Shumba Ratshega hung up his mic three years ago and focused on his ‘spiritual’ journey, so it was a surprise to bump into the man at this year’s installment of Traditional Music Expo (TME). Botswana Insurance Fund Management (BIFM) sponsors the TME, which is in its 17th year. Although the expo was postponed because of the strict COVID-19 protocols, this week BIFM surprised TME with a P 10 000 cheque donation to each of the 10 participating artists. Catching Voice Entertainment’s eye was Ratshega who now goes by the name, Prophet Shumba Ratshega.
