When Kalai Bagai first arrived in San Francisco on September 6th, 1915 with her husband Vaishno and three sons, local newspapers flocked to cover the story of the first Indian-American woman to enter the Bay Area. Fleeing British imperialism in her homeland, Bagai was exposed to the very casual racism and persecution she thought she had escaped. When her family purchased their first home, she remembered her neighbors attempting to stop them from moving in.

Meghan Markle has hosted a virtual roundtable with a group of young girls to encourage them to keep using their voices to fight for change and allow them a platform to do so.
According to the Archewell website, the Duchess of Sussex, in collaboration with Girls Inc and National Women’s Law Center, spoke with the 13- to 18-year-olds, primarily girls of colour, during a conversation that covered everything from “everyday struggles during Covid, including identity loss and isolation,” to issues such as mental health and racial injustice. ....

Duchess of Sussex tells young girls to 'challenge injustice' in virtual chat


The Duchess of Sussex spoke with teenage girls as she encouraged the “young activists” to share the challenges their generation faced in order for their voices to be heard.
Meghan hosted a virtual roundtable with a group of 13 to 18-year-olds – primarily girls of colour – who are part of the US non-profit organisation Girls Inc.
The duchess, joined by the leaders of Girls Inc and The National Women’s Law Centre, which advocates women’s legal rights, spoke of “everyday struggles during Covid-19”, including mental health, racism and “identity loss and isolation”.
A post on the Archewell website – the foundation set up by the Sussexes – said the roundtable gave the young women a platform to “help define a path forward and continue making an impact”. ....

Meghan Markle has told teenage girls to  challenge injustice during a virtual chat. 
The Duchess of Sussex held an online roundtable with 13 to 18-year-olds – primarily girls of colour – and spoke of everyday struggles during Covid-19 .
Meghan said these included mental health, racism and identity loss and isolation .
The duchess - joined by the leaders of Girls Inc and The National Women s Law Centre, which advocates women s legal rights - urged the young activists to share the challenges their generation faced in order for their voices to be heard.

Duchess Meghan further proved that she s an advocate for the next generation of girls.
Per Archewell s official website, the Duchess of Sussex hosted a roundtable discussion with members of Girls Inc. and the National Women s Law Center that gave young girls a platform to speak about the breadth of challenges their generation is facing at this moment. The virtual discussion included a passionate group of 13- to 18-year-olds (primarily girls of color) who are solidifying their roles as burgeoning activists around subjects of education, social justice, and health and wellness in their own schools and communities.
The roundtable participants spoke openly about some of their everyday struggles navigating girlhood, school, mental health, and identity, as well as how some of those experiences have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
