Rider rushed to hospital after collision with vehicle

Police are on scene at a busy Sunshine Coast roundabout after a car and bicycle collided which left a rider in a serious condition.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said paramedics were called to the roundabout linking Caloundra Road and Nicklin Way in Caloundra about 12.30pm.
A rider was treated by paramedics on scene and was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a serious condition.
The spokesman said no age or gender details were available for the rider.
A second patient was assessed by hadn’t suffered any obvious injuries.
A Queensland Police spokesman said officers were on scene. ....

Public transport use will have to grow by almost 7 per cent each year for a quarter of a century if Sunshine Coast Council is to achieve its target of 10 per cent of trips being taken on public transport by 2041.
The report revealed the rate of usage of public transport in the region had fallen by 2 per cent over the past decade, leaving an ambitious growth rate of 6.6 per cent a year required to reach Sunshine Coast Council s goal of 10 per cent mode share for public transport in 20 years time.
The draft report recommended Stage 1 of the Sunshine Coast Mass Transit system, a 13.6km stretch from Maroochydore to Birtinya, be operational by 2027 with construction to start in 2024. ....

Traffic congestion could clog the Bruce Highway between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast for another two years as current projects are completed.

Northern drivers taking hip pocket hit at petrol pump

Northern Sunshine Coast drivers are being hit harder in the hip pocket at the petrol pump than their southern neighbours.
RACQ research has revealed a huge price disparity in the region with Noosa motorists being slugged 30 cents a litre more than drivers in Caloundra.
RACQ spokeswoman Clare Hunter said Noosa drivers were paying an average of 155.9 cents per litre compared to Caloundra where some service stations were charging just 125.5 cents per litre.
It s all down to competition. In Caloundra there are a few smaller independent retailers which are competing on price and will discount heavily to get vehicles to the pump, Ms Hunter said. ....
