Defensive-minded Sky visit Dream 19 May 2021, 03:40 GMT+10 The Chicago Sky looked dominant in their season-opening win at the Washington Mystics, while the Atlanta Dream struggled at home against the Connecticut Sun in their first game. The teams meet Wednesday in Atlanta with Chicago having played most recently, beating the Mystics 70-56 on Saturday in the debut of Candace Parker with the Sky after 13 seasons with the Los Angeles Sparks. The 56 points were the third fewest by an opponent in Chicago franchise history. Atlanta opened on Friday, losing to the Sun 78-67 after making only 35.9 percent of its shots from the field and getting outrebounded 42-26 in the first game under interim coach Mike Petersen. ....

The COVID- 19 pandemic has created unprecedented and unique challenges for IDD, who were disproportionately isolated prior to the pandemic. ....

The latest step to becoming coach of three-time national champion Baylor happened in a hurry. “It hasn’t been an even staircase to the top,” Collen said Wednesday. “But I have a lot of experience, I have a lot of life experience, and so I bring a different things to the table. I’m a mom, I’m a wife, I’m all those things all of the time. And I’m also at a point in my life where I’m comfortable with who I am.” ....

Most importantly, they have new owners, with former Dream player Renee Montgomery joining an ownership group with Larry Gottesdiener and Suzanne Abair. Continuing the overhaul, the organization added Brooklyn Cartwright as Director of Basketball Operations and parted ways with President and General Manager Chris Sienko. On the court, the Dream also will look different. While Dream lifer Tiffany Hayes is returning after opting out of the 2020 season, she’ll only find two familiar faces Elizabeth Williams and Monique Billings. Hayes has yet to take the court with the new faces that Atlanta added last offseason Chennedy Carter, Courtney Williams, Shekinna Stricklen and Kalani Brown. ....
