Following the identification of three priority topics, the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) has published Learned Society Priority Topics to 2024, setting out how the institution aims to address these areas of focus over the coming years.
The three priority topics were chosen by IChemE’s Learned Society Committee (LSC), which was formed in 2019 with responsibility for the strategic direction of the institution’s technical priorities. The LSC collaborated with IChemE’s volunteer special interest groups to develop three topics on which to prioritise activity within the learned society.

IChemE sets out priority topics to 2024

ICHEME has identified three priority topics and published
Learned Society Priority Topics to 2024, which sets out how the Institution will address these focus areas over the coming years.
Digitalisation, major hazards management, and responsible production were chosen by IChemE’s Learned Society Committee (LSC), with input from volunteer special interest groups (SIGs) and other members to develop the areas for prioritisation within the learned society. Formed in 2019, the LSC is responsible for offering strategic direction to IChemE’s technical priorities.

Candidates announced for IChemE elections

ICHEME has announced the candidates running for available positions on the IChemE Board of Trustees, Congress, and Learned Society Committee.
For the Board of Trustees, the positions to be filled are President 2022/2023 (Deputy President 2021/2022), Vice President (Learned Society), and Ordinary Member (three seats). Three positions remain uncontested.
The positions available for Congress are Chartered Member Representative (two seats) and Early Career Representative (two seats). Four seats are uncontested and four remain unfilled.
Four seats are available for Ordinary Members of the Learned Society Committee.
A list of candidates and their statements can be found here. Voting for the elections will open for eligible members at 14:00 BST on 30 April and close at 09:30 BST on 21 May. Members will receive an email with a unique voter code and details of how to vote. Candidates who are successful will take up their positions from the AGM on ....

IN 2019, all members were invited to take part in a survey that was commissioned by Trustees and Congress to understand your priorities and views of IChemE’s performance.
The findings informed
IChemE’s Strategy 2024 document, and the progress of the actions being taken following your feedback were reported in issues 937/8 and 944. I wanted to provide a final update ahead of a new survey planned for April.
