Two people sent to hospital after crash on West Emory Road in Karns
Officials said three people were involved in the crash Tuesday evening, and one person was pinned in their car before being pulled out by crews.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. The Karns Fire Department said crews responded to a crash on West Emory Road near Copper Ridge Road Tuesday evening. They said two people were sent to the hospital as a result of the crash.
Three cars were involved in the crash, according to officials. One person had also been pinned in their car before crews pulled them out and sent them to the hospital, officials said. ....

TDEC Announces Grants For Medium, Large Trucks
Under Volkswagen Settlement Environmental Mitigation Trust

The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation Tuesday announced that 26 entities will receive $9,724,683.74 in total grant funding to replace class 4-7 local freight trucks (medium trucks) and class 8 local freight trucks (large trucks) across the state.
The total includes $3,772,646.05 for medium truck projects, and $5,952,037.69 for large truck projects. They include:
City of Athens
Karns Fire Department
Waste Management of Tennessee, Inc.
The pair of competitive grant programs comprise the state’s third solicitation for projects under the Volkswagen Diesel Settlement Environmental Mitigation Trust. The purpose of the EMT is to execute environmental mitigation projects that reduce emissions of nitrogen oxides. ....

Officials said that the wildfire was around 2 acres large when crews arrived at around 3:30 p.m.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. The Karns Fire Department arrived at a wildland fire that was around 2 acres large Wednesday, according to a release from officials. They said that it was around the Hardin Valley community and West Gallaher Ferry Road.
They said that due to increased winds, the fire spread quickly and caused several units with the department to help contain it. As the fire began to threaten a home, crews reached out to the Tennessee Department of Forestry to help contain it with tracked dozers. ....
