In a poll bound Karnataka , Cow welfare Cell of state’s BJP unit organised a 24 hours  ‘Gaw Raksha Asthayama Yagna’ to create awareness about cow slaughter and illegal slaughter house s in Bengaluru on Friday.
The rituals of the yagna started in the afternoon at Ganesha Devasthana grounds in JP Nagar. ....

Bengaluru: The opposition Congress in Karnataka has trounced the ruling BJP by winning 120 out of the 263 wards in 10 local bodies across eight districts that went to the polls on April 27.
Surprisingly, even the Janata Dal (S) performed better than the BJP by winning 66 seats as against the saffron party s 57 seats.
While the BJP has been able to retain the Madikeri City Council, the Congress retained the Ballari City Corporation, besides winning the Bidar City Council. ....

Election Commission announces Karnataka MLC bypoll date, result on March 18


Highlights
The Commission added that the election process will be concluded before March 18.
Karnataka: The bypoll for the Karnataka Legislative Council seat, which fell vacant after untimely death of the Council deputy speaker S L Dharmegowda, will take place on March 15 the Election Commission announced on Thursday (February 18). 
According to the Election Commission’s notification, the last date of filing nominations is March 4, while the bypoll will be issued on February 25. It also added that the last date for withdrawal is March 8. 
The announcement further revealed that the timing for the poll will be 9 am to 4 pm on March 15, followed by the counting of votes on the same day. The Commission added that the election process will be concluded before March 18.  ....

Bengaluru: The resentment over the expansion of the BS Yediyurappa Ministry in Karnataka refused to die down with a couple of ruling BJP MLAs on Tuesday demanding that the cabinet be reconstituted to make way for new faces.
Six-time MLA from Chitradurga GH Thippareddy and Shivanagouda Naik, representing Devadurga constituency, pitched for a new look to the cabinet. ....
