MNB gift to SRC Foundation the catalyst for re-launching new athletics programs at SRC
CANTON Spoon River College’s gymnasium now has a new name – the MidAmerica National Bank Gymnasium.
The name change is part of a long-term sponsorship agreement between Spoon River College, the Spoon River College Foundation, and MidAmerica National Bank. The agreement includes a 20-year naming rights period in exchange for a significant gift from MidAmerica to the SRC Foundation.
“MidAmerica National Bank (MNB) has valued our longstanding partnership with Spoon River College (SRC) and the SRC Foundation,” said Mitch Coonradt, Vice President at MNB and chair of the Foundation from 2018-2021. “The last few years have been pivotal to the future of SRC. MACOMB U.S. Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois, the Senate Majority Whip, met Wednesday with 46 members of the Macomb Area Chamber of Commerce via ZOOM from his office in Chicago. He said that he would later be traveling to Springfield and then to Bloomington to tour the former Mitsubishi plant.
Durbin said the Biden administration s American Rescue Plan would deliver $13.7 billion in state and local dollars, with $5.7 million going to McDonough County. I think we re on the road to being back in business, he said.
Brad Bainter of Western Illinois University told Durbin that rural poverty has now surpassed urban poverty in Illinois. He said more money is needed for four-year colleges and universities, especially if President Joe Biden succeeds in making community colleges tuition-free. ....

FULTON COUNTY The Fulton County Health Department in conjunction with the Fulton County COVID Task Force will be holding its next round of vaccination clinics around Fulton County in Table Grove and Avon. The task force is also improving its service to Fulton County residents by allowing walk-ins at these latest clinics. Residents do not need an appointment to participate in the vaccination clinic but are encouraged to pre-register by calling the Fulton County Health Department, 309-647-1134. “Over the past four months we’ve made some significant strides in the County with the roll out of vaccines throughout the County. Having partnerships with Walgreens, Hy-Vee and Graham Hospital has really allowed for the ability to get the vaccine out quickly.
