WOMEN and children sheltering in an Inverclyde refuge got a special Christmas this year thanks to the generosity of local people.
Long-time Women s Aid worker Carol McLaughlin joined other charities at Nationwide s Greenock branch to be presented with toys and a cash gift from the staff.
It was part of the building society s annual Christmas appeal to support local groups by donating gifts, toys and £1,000 in total to four local good causes.
Women s Aid team leader Carol McLaughlin, who joined financial officer June McDermid at the presentation, said: We are just overwhelmed by the kindness.
This is fantastic for the families we support, to know that people care so much. ....
