William Taylor is arrested after domestic dispute, chase and manhunt in Effingham County

Effingham County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man Friday who was wanted in a domestic dispute involving a gun and possibly a gunshot.
William Anthony Taylor, 34, is charged with felony fleeing to elude and numerous drug and weapons charges, according to sheriff’s spokeswoman Gena Sullivan.
Deputies got a call at 8:30 a.m. that a man involved in a domestic dispute had left the residence in a blue Tahoe. They spotted the vehicle and tried to stop it, but the driver fled, leading deputies on a chase.
He eventually crashed on Meldrim Road and U.S. Highway 80 and fled on foot. Deputies set up a perimeter and called for K9 and a drone to assist in the search. ....

SPRINGFIELD Just after 8:30 a.m. Friday, the Effingham County Sheriff s Office received a call of a domestic dispute involving a gun and possibly a gun shot.
The suspect left the residence in a Blue Tahoe. Deputies observed the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop.
The driver, William Anthony Taylor 34, failed to stop and led deputies on a pursuit. Taylor eventually crashed at Meldrim Road and Hwy 80 and fled on foot. ....

On Friday, NASA is broadcasting a special ceremony marking the renaming of the agency’s headquarters building in Washington D.C. in honor of the late Mary W. Jackson, whose historic work as a mathematician and aerospace engineer was documented in Margot Lee Shetterly’s book
Jackson started her career with NASA in the segregated West Area Computing Unit of the Langley Research Center in Virginia before going on to lead programs that had far-reaching impacts on the hiring and promotion of women in the agency’s science, tech, engineering, and mathematics careers. In 2019, 14 years after her death at the age of 83, Jackson was posthumously honored with the Congressional Gold Medal. ....

As stated last month, the historic Castleberry building, located at 102 S. Main Street in Salem, on the square, is now officially listed on the Arkansas Register of Historic Places.
Dr. John and Leslie Scribner purchased the property in January 2020 with the purpose of restoring as much history to the building as possible. They are sharing the journey with their four children: Glendon (12), Phoebe (10), Marshall (9) and Jewell (5).
The family knew they wanted the official historic designation for the Castleberry, so research began as to what needed to take place. Leslie was very appreciative of the knowledge and helpful hands of the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage & Tourisms Arkansas Historic Preservation Program (AHHP). The team helped her prepare the proper documentation which captures nearly every detail of the unique historical property. ....
