Lafayette airport adds flights to Charlotte in April
Starting in April people will be able to fly to Charlotte, North Carolina on American Airlines via the Lafayette airport, officials announced.
The Daily Advertiser reported Monday that the direct flights on American Airlines between Lafayette Regional Airport and Charlotte Douglas International Airport will begin on April 2 but tickets are on sale now.
American already has a direct flight from Lafayette to Dallas. The Charlotte route will have two flights daily on a plane that seats 63 people.
Steven Picou, the executive director of the Lafayette airport, said they had been looking for another destination on the East Coast for “quite some time” and that Charlotte was a prime candidate. ....

Appleton International Airport Officials Express Optimism for 2021, Despite Major Hurdles in 2020

APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – Officials at Appleton International Airport are optimistic for the future, after a big drop in passenger numbers in 2020.
“It was an odd year,” said Airport Director Abe Weber. “We welcomed about 380,000 passengers through our airport terminal, and we think that’s going to continue to slowly increase in 2021.”
380,154 travelers passed through Appleton International last year. And while that’s a 48% drop from 2019, across the U.S., passengers were down 61% from last year, according to the Transportation Security Administration.
Weber says being above the national trend line gives Appleton International a spark of optimism heading into 2021. ....
