Jail medical staff performed CPR on John Davin Haley, 41, who was found in his cell Saturday morning, according to Sheriff Garry McFadden. He was declared dead 15 minutes later, The Charlotte Observer reported. Haley is the second inmate to die after being found unresponsive at the jail in the city s Uptown neighborhood in about a week. Karon Golightly, 20, was found unresponsive May 14 and declared dead at a nearby hospital a short time later. The State Bureau of Investigation will investigate Haley s death, and the Mecklenburg County medical examiner will determine the cause, McFadden said. ....

(WBTV) - A 20-year-old inmate was found dead this morning at the Mecklenburg County Detention Center-Central. Mecklenburg County Sheriffâs Office found Karon Golightly unresponsive just before 10 a.m. Friday. He was taken to an area hospital and pronounced dead a little more than an hour later. âWe are deeply saddened by the loss of Mr. Golightly,â said Sheriff Gary McFadden in a release. âOur deepest condolences are with his family.â ....
Karon Golightly Officials say Golightly was found unresponsive around 10 a.m. on May 14th, when first responders were called to the detention center to perform CPR. Golightly was then taken to a local hospital where he died an hour later at 11 a.m., according to a news release. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Mr. Golightly,” said Sheriff McFadden, “our deepest condolences are with his family.” The State Bureau of Investigation will continue to investigate this case thoroughly, as the medical examiner determines a cause and manner of death. ....
