New Jersey has established six classes of legal cannabis business activities. Logan zoning under the ordinance now will permit Class 2 businesses, those that manufacture, prepare, and package products. The other categories the state recognizes are: Class 1, growing and cultivating; Class 3, wholesale; Class 4, distribution of plants in bulk from one licensed cultivator to another, or items in bulk from one business to another; Class 5, retailer/consumer sales; and Class 6, courier services for delivering consumer purchases. The state is requiring municipalities to approve ordinances by August 21 stating whether they will or will not allow cannabis operations. State law allows the township to amend its policy if it chooses in the future.
