A Q&A with Waltham native Jared Daigle, swimmer in Olympic Trials

It has taken years to get to this moment, including time on the Waltham Boys & Girls Tiger Sharks swim team, but in a couple of weeks, Jared Daigle will be competing at the Olympic Trials.  
After many attempts, losing by the smallest of margins, and acceptance that his dreams might not come true, Daigle qualified for the Wave 2 meet in the 200 Individual Medley or IM (2:01.7) last month, his last opportunity to do so this year.  
Wave 2 will serve as the sole qualifier for pool swimmers on the U.S. Olympic team for the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan. The trials can be streamed at www.usaswimming.org. ....

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. –– Nearly 60 years ago, 100 homes were destroyed, as three different fires simultaneously burned through multiple Staten Island neighborhoods.
On April 20, 1963, also known as Black Saturday, a total of three large brush fires began in Rossville, Tottenville, and Mariners Harbor. In their wake, the fires caused more than $2 million of property damage and left over 500 people homeless. ....
