Police officers to walk 71km in memory of Southend colleague | Clacton and Frinton Gazette


FIVE police officers will walk more than 71 kilometres in memory of a Southend officer who died suddenly.
In March 2020, PC Ewan Smith died unexpectedly aged 36. He had been unable to attend work due to a headache. Later that day he suffered a sudden seizure and was rushed to hospital.
Tragically, Ewan, from Southend, was found to have a brain tumour, he never recovered consciousness following the seizure and died three days later.
He left behind his wife Natalie, their sons, Austin, and twins Fletcher and Franklin who were aged five and one at the time.
Almost a year on and his team mates in Grays - Det Sgt Charlie Cronin, PC Andy Gore, PC Dave Roberts, DC Karen Bryant and PC Charlotte Vale - will be walking more than 70 kilometres in 24 hours to raise funds for Ewan s family. ....

PMC Board Covers 2021 Developments : The Prowers Journal


The Prowers Medical Center Board of Directors discussed several projects during their January 27
th meeting including a construction update on the nuclear medicine camera laboratory and available funding for the new MRI unit.
The completion date for the laboratory should be by the end of March or early April, according to hospital Chief Executive Officer, Karen Bryant. She said some of the construction materials needed by the contractors was delayed, pushing the timeline back slightly. The funding for the MRI, Magnetic Resonance Imaging Unit, will be lower than the $1 million requested from DoLA, the Department of Local Affairs. There was $22.6 million in requests put to the department which had a budget of $13.2 million for funding. Although there isn’t any official notification at this point, the board expects to receive around $700,000, or about 70% of their request. City of Lamar Enacting Safety Measures to Deal with Recent COVID Surge
The Prowers County Public Health and Environment department issued a press release on Thursday, October 22nd, stating a death occurred 10/21/2020 associated with COVID-19. The person was a resident of the nursing facility experiencing the outbreak in Lamar. The process of death investigation to determine whether this person died of COVID-19 or with COVID-19 is multi-tiered and goes through local, state and federal agencies.
Lamar Mayor, Kirk Crespin, announced on Tuesday, the 20th via facebook that the county is now at risk of going to Stage 3 restrictions unless the outbreak of the pandemic can be brought under control over the next two weeks. Although Crespin said he does not like the idea of mandated mask wearing measures, “We aren’t doing enough on our own,” he stated in light of the recent outbreak of 35 new cases and the death of a resident of Lamar Estates.
