Williams Tabernacle CME Church MOULTRIE, Ga. â Williams Tabernacle CME Church will observe its annual Foundersâ Day virtually at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 11. The speaker for this occasion will be the Rev. Bernard Jackson. He recognized his calling into the ministry at the age of 17 and was licensed a local preacher by the late Presiding Elder William R. Johnson Jr. He was ordained an elder in full connection in the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church at the 22nd session of the Southern California Regional Annual Conference under the hands of Bishop Henry Williamson Sr. ....

Those interested in participating can come to Harvest Ministries Outreach Center at 10:30 a.m. to listen to special guests and take home free soul food. The ministry welcomes recording artist “JJ” (J-Vito) Tillman. Tillman is a member of the Hamiltones Trio. University of South Carolina Defensive Line Coach Jimmy Lindsey will also be speaking on Sunday. Both Tillman and Lindsey are Anson natives. LOUIS, Miss. (WLOX) - Students in Pre-K through fifth grade were able to give presentations of their favorite historical figure in front of the school. The school’s principal, Pamela Terry, tells us this is an assignment for the students. “We wanted parents to research with the children at home so it’s a family-oriented effort.” said Terry. Terry explained that the school opened in 2015 and the black history program was delayed for years due to the school’s low enrollment. Now, administrators said the school has 21 students. Terry also said that she wanted the program to motivate the children. ....
Dr. Gertie Lowe of Gadsden was named a Pillar of Education by the Gadsden City school system in 2014-2015, and manycredit her with laying a foundation for the people of her community through her mentoring, her work in her church and in civil rights. Lowe died Friday, and her passing marks a tremendous loss to the community, Gadsden City Schools Superintendent Tony Reddick said. Lowe was encouraged by her mother who had a fifth-grade education – to value and strive for education. She did, becoming a nurse, and was honored as a top nursing home administrator. Lowe valued learning, not only for herself but for others. Some two decades ago, she mentored a child during the school year and continued through the summer months. She recognized the value of study in the summer and extended it to other children. ....
