Black Student Leaders to host spaghetti fundraiser for teen clothing closet July 20, 2021 6:35 PM Updated: LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) The Black Student Leaders organization will host a spaghetti dinner fundraiser for the La Crosse area’s first teen-run clothing closet. Supporters can drop by Hope Restores at 231 Copeland Ave. in La Crosse from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Wednesday with cash donations or gift cards of at least $20 in exchange for a pasta dinner. Mia Davis, a sophomore at Logan High School and vice president of Black Student Leaders, said the idea of a teen closet came from her own experiences at clothing closets, where she never found clothes that suited her preferences. ....

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – A local student-led group is adding to the beauty of downtown La Crosse. Black Student Leaders, a group created by local area high school students, are working to create a mural for downtown. The art piece is being made in collaboration with Leaders Igniting Transformation College Fellow and a local artist. The project, which began last year, is an artistic take on the challenges that students and people of color face within the community. The Art project gives people an opportunity to express themselves in different ways. “I think that art is something that catches people’s eyes like obviously, you go to color, and you go to things that are beautiful and attractive, and art is a really good way to catch the eye,” said Breckin Sargeant, a local artist. ....
