JOINT STATEMENT The Ekka Public Holiday will be moved until later in 2021 for Brisbane, Scenic Rim and Moreton Bay local government areas. Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said moving the holiday from Wednesday, August 11 occurred following the Ekka being cancelled for a second year. “I know many people and families were disappointed to hear the Ekka would not go ahead this year,” the Premier said. “But with the current situation, the last thing we need right now is a potential super-spreader event with thousands of people gathered. “And if we can’t have the Ekka this year to help keep Queenslanders safe, it makes sense to move the holiday. ....

Seven new cases of COVID-19 have been identified, with six related to the Indooroopilly State High School student cluster and one an overseas case. The new local cases are linked to the Indooroopilly student, who tested positive on Friday, and have been confirmed to be her parents and two siblings, as well as a medical student who tutors the student and a teacher from Ironside State School. Rick’s father bought the property in 1950 to breed Merinos for fine wool, and Rick continues that tradition. Rick Robertson with a number of Gracemere Merinos “Merino breeding is the only thing I have wanted to do since leaving school,” Rick said. “We join 3,000 and have no wethers over one year of age. Work has wrapped up on a major upgrade of the Capricorn Highway between Rockhampton and Gracemere.
