SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KERO) â After months of working to meet the new allowances of patient-nurse ratios approved by the state, California nurses will soon take a sigh of relief.
The California Department of Public Health announced that as of Monday, the department will no longer accept any new expedited staffing waivers. Furthermore, all existing approved staffing waivers will expire on February 8, unless CDPH determines on an individual waiver basis that there is an unprecedented circumstance.
Hospitals must maintain efforts to meet required staffing levels at all times. ....

After 38 years of serving the Norman community, Dr. Stephen Lindsey is retiring from his practice.
In honor of his decades of service, Lindseyâs friends and family put on a drive-by celebration Saturday in lieu of a retirement party due to COVID-19.
Throughout the day, cars continued to line Lindseyâs street, honking and wishing their friend and physician a good retirement. People would leave notes and balloons on a table on the side of the road as they drove by waving at a man who touched their lives in friendship and in medicine. ....

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. â The San Joaquin Valley will remain under the latest stay-at-home order indefinitely due to a lack of ICU capacity.
