Armenian author keeps family's history alive with new book


Ariana Kabodian learned a lot about the Holocaust while growing up but not much about her own ancestors genocide. 
In commemoration of the 106th anniversary of the Armenian genocide and in honor of her family s history, the 28-year-old Armenian author interviewed her relatives and wrote a book called  Forget Me Not: Armenian Genocide Recollections.
The book was published this month by Chapbook Press Schuler Books. Printed on the cover is the official symbol of the Armenian genocide  the forget-me-not flower.
I knew that the Holocaust was very well known in our community as well as nationally and internationally but unfortunately, the Armenian genocide did not have the same  well-known factor, Kabodian said. ....

Gamble Montessori HS receives national sustainability award


James N. Gamble Montessori High School is one of the nation s 27 Green Ribbon Schools awarded this year for promising sustainability practices, the U.S. Department of Education announced Thursday.
The U.S. Department of Education recognizes Green Ribbon Schools that strive to reduce environmental impact and costs, improve the health and wellness of schools, students and staff and provide effective environmental and sustainability education, according to the website. Gamble Montessori was the only Ohio school recognized in 2021.

After a challenging year for schools during the thick of the COVID-19 pandemic, the semester is drawing to a close. In this section, the superintendent of Catholic schools looks back on the year. Steve Wells remembers his first day as a teacher at Catholic High School in Little Rock. The North Little Rock native had come to the painful decision not to return for his fourth year at Holy Trinity Seminary in Dallas and dropped in on his former principal Father George Tribou with the news.
