Nico Myatovic of Prince George had a memorable first game with the Seattle Thunderbirds scoring twice on his first two shots during Tuesday’s 4-2 win against Tri-City. The former Cariboo Cougar has been chomping at the bit to play again since his rookie season at the U-18 level was cut short due to the pandemic. “You know, I have been waiting a year to play games here. When we had the OK that the season was going ahead everyone was ecstatic and when I got the call down here I was super happy.” ....

Spruce Kings whitewash Merritt with 11-goal outburst SHARE ON: The goal light at the Chilliwack Coliseum received a workout thanks to the Prince George Spruce Kings. Andrew Seaman and Christian Buono led the way offensively with a hat trick each pacing the Spruce Kings to a dominant 11-2 win against the Merritt Centennials on Wednesday. “I think we knew we had a lot more offense to bring after those first two games. A lot of it was shaking off the rust as it’s been a while since we played. The second and third periods we got pucks to the net, got some good bounces and it’s just the way it goes sometimes,” added Seaman. ....

The eighth overall pick spent the 2019-20 season with St. George’s School Bantam Prep, recording 80 points (43G, 37A) and 47 penalty minutes in 27 games. He added another seven points (4G, 3A) and two penalty minutes in two playoff games. Nolan Flamand, Kelowna’s first pick in the 2019 WHL Draft will also be joining the roster. Flamand, who was projected to be a WHL first-round pick, fell to the Rockets at 27th overall four picks into the second round. Cousins’ is on his way to Kelowna after a standout season with the Cariboo Cougars where he was named the BCU16 AAA Player of the Year. The 16-year-old compiled 57 points (28G, 29A) over 28 games last season. ....
