MELBOURNE
.- Australia’s national museum of screen culture and Melbourne Art Foundation, the non-profit organisation and owner of the biennial Melbourne Art Fair, announced Kaylene Whiskey as the recipient of the Melbourne Art Foundation 2022 Commission, supported by Artwork Transport and Panasonic.
Set to be unveiled at the Melbourne Art Fair in February 2022 before moving to its permanent home in the ACMI collection, Whiskey’s new video work will be the ninth commission of the 15-year program.
It marks several firsts: the first time the Melbourne Art Foundation Commission program has partnered with ACMI, the first time the Commission has awarded a First Nations artist, and the first time it has supported the production of a moving image work. ....

Switched on for Illuminate Adelaide - SA's new annual major event

Australia’s new major event, Illuminate Adelaide officially opens today, after having to delay by a day due to severe weather warnings. Following great anticipation and intrigue, Adelaide will play host to this event, a celebration of music, art, innovation and light over the next 16 days and nights.
With over 300,000 people expected to venture into the city to experience 150 installations, performances, and events, including 41 world premieres, Illuminate Adelaide promises to really set the city alight this winter.
Co-founders and creative directors, Rachael Azzopardi and Lee Cumberlidge said: “We urge audiences to embrace the winter and explore our beloved city, but not as they normally see it. Bring a warm jacket, throw on comfortable shoes and embrace Illuminate Adelaide. ....

.-The Art Gallery of New South Wales kicked off its 150th anniversary celebrations with a burst of color and light, collaborating for the first time with the Sydney Opera House to mark the annual Badu Gili festival of First Nations Culture by projecting artworks onto the iconic sails of the Opera House.
The work of six leading Aboriginal women artists represented in the Art Gallery’s permanent collection will light up each evening in a six-minute animation on the sails, as the Gallery leads up to the completion in 2022 of its Sydney Modern expansion project, designed by SANAA. ....
