Police Blotter: Man Reporting To Probation Is 3 Sheets To The Wind; Pair Uses Citigo For Garbage Dump Wednesday, June 2, 2021
Police were called to TN Probation and Parole due to a possible intoxicated person who was reporting for their monthly meeting. A man showed up smelling like an intoxicant. The officer evaluated the man and determined he wasn t a danger to himself or others and he was released after his meeting. He is currently homeless and he said he stays in a tent near the Chattanooga Convention Center.
A woman on Grayshore Lane said she had purchased a red 2009 Nissan Altima late last year. She said she had a bill of sale and a Georgia title for the vehicle. She said that when she attempted to register the vehicle, in her name in Tennessee, she was told that the title was too worn out. Police saw a man on Cummings Highway crossing the mountain in a motorized wheelchair. He made the trek over Cummings Highway from Chattanooga to Lookout Valley often after he was forced to relocate from Patten Towers to the Super 8 on Birmingham Highway. After getting him off of the bad area of the mountain, the officer spoke with him about not doing this anymore considering the great risks he was taking. He agreed and apologized and said he would not be crossing Cummings Highway in his wheelchair any more and would seek an alternate means.

The Chattanooga Department of Transportation announces Scenic Highway between Cummings Highway and Old Wauhatchie Pike will close today at 1:30 p.m. for one hour.
The City of Chattanooga Forestry Division will be removing a potentially hazardous tree. Detours will be posted via Old Wauhatchie Pike.
