Road tax to be collected from June 1
Tue, 1 June 2021
The General Department of Taxation (GDT) announced on May 28 that the government will collect annual road tax payments from June 1 until November 30.
The GDT said in a letter that owners of standard-class vehicles must submit tax returns or payment receipts and pay the amount due to their corresponding provincial or district tax branch, or at any authorised bank.
Embassies or consulates, international organisations, or governmental technical cooperation agencies are to apply at the GDT to obtain the tax forms for their vehicles, the letter said. Tax bills for these vehicles are footed by the state.

The National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) on May 24 launched a new campaign to encourage a shift to digital banking channels, reducing the need for person-to-person transactions and limit the potential risk of Covid-19 transmission.
With its mandate to promote financial inclusion throughout the Kingdom, the NBC has been stalwart in its backing of digital and electronic payment services.
Using the slogan “Go online and go cashless to beat Covid-19!”, the central bank urges customers and retailers to adopt e-wallets and applications such as Bakong to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.
According to the NBC, more than 59 per cent of Cambodians currently conduct payment transactions online.
