KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 9): Malaysia reported today 2,764 newly-confirmed Covid-19 infected individuals and 13 pandemic-related deaths, which brought the country s total number of fatalities due to the outbreak to 909 so far. The Ministry of Health MOH said via Twitter today the 2,764 newly-infected individuals comprised 2,758 local-transmission and six imported cases. “The last time the (daily) number of new cases was below 3,000 was on Jan 13 (2021),” the MOH said. The MOH said today’s 2,764 newly-confirmed Covid-19-infected individuals brought the total number cases in the country to 248,316 so far. According to the MoH, the cumulative number of active Covid-19 cases in the country stood at 50,841 so far. ....

Friday, 01 Jan 2021 PETALING JAYA: Malaysia reported a record high 2,525 Covid-19 cases on the last day of 2020, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 113,010. In a statement yesterday, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were also eight deaths, bringing the cumulative death toll to 471, which translates to a fatality rate of 0.42%. Selangor recorded the highest number with 1,205 (47.7%) cases, followed by Sabah (299) and Melaka (239), he added. There were 13 imported cases. He said 131 cases were being treated in intensive care units with 60 requiring ventilator support. Dr Noor Hisham also said there were 1,481 recoveries yesterday, bringing the total number to 88,941. ....
