The film, penned by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna Dk, strengthened at the ticket window on Saturday and Sunday with Rs 10.87 crore and Rs 14.38 crore, respectively.

Actor Kangana Ranaut on Thursday dismissed rumours that there was a romantic sequence involving Rani Laxmibai in her film “Manikarnika”, saying those spreading such stories are actually defaming the queen.
Brahmin group ‘Sarv Brahmin Mahasabha’ from Rajasthan has raised objection over the film, alleging it features a romantic scene between Rani Laxmibai and a British East India company agent.

After a massive controversy over Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat, Kangana Ranaut-starrer Manikarnika seems to be another Bollywood flick in a soup as a Rajasthan Brahmin group has threatened to disrupt the shooting, claiming “indecent portrayal” of Rani Laxmibai.

Writer Ashish Kaul had filed a copyright infringement case against Kangana Ranaut for the film ‘Manikarnika Returns: The Legend of Didda’. The writer has now made it clear that he will be opposing any relief to the actress in the copyright case. In return, Kangana and her brother Akshat Ranaut have filed a petition in the Bombay High Court to quash the FIR against them in the said case.
