The state of Florida has filed a lawsuit against the federal government to demand cruise ships be allowed to start sailing immediately, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Thursday.
DeSantis said the no-sail order is outdated and hurts the state as the industry generates billions for the economy and employs tens of thousands of Floridians.
We don t believe the federal government has the right to mothball a major industry for over a year based on very little evidence and very little data, the Republican governor said at a news conference at the Port of Miami. ....

OPINION:
The world is a mess. In this throwaway society humanity seems intent on cluttering the world with junk. In recent international news one of the world s biggest container ships, the 220,000 tonne Ever Given ran aground across the Suez canal, blocking all marine traffic. History repeats itself obviously.
In 1967 hostilities, labelled the Six-Day War, broke out between Egypt and Israel. Egypt scuttled ships, a bridge, sea mines and other assorted paraphernalia in and across the Suez Canal blocking it to shipping. Fifteen international cargo vessels were trapped in those waters, in the Great Bitter Lake and Lake Timsah for eight years between 1967 and 1975 while the adversaries wrestled for supremacy. ....

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has developed an Advanced Chaff Technology to safeguard naval ships against missile attack.
Chaff is a passive expendable electronic countermeasure technology used worldwide to protect naval ships from enemy’s radar and Radio Frequency (RF) missile seekers. The importance of this development lies in the fact that very less quantity of chaff material deployed in the air acts as decoy to deflect enemy’s missiles for safety of the ships.
Defence Laboratory Jodhpur, a DRDO laboratory, has indigenously developed three variants of this critical technology Short Range Chaff Rocket, Medium Range Chaff Rocket and Long Range Chaff Rocket meeting Indian Navy’s qualitative requirements. The development of Advanced Chaff Technology by DRDO lab is another step towards Atmanirbhar Bharat. ....
